always
dreamed
of
studying
abroad.
From
a
young
age,
she
had
been
fascinated
by
the
idea
of
immersing
herself
in
a
new
culture,
learning
new
languages
and
experiencing
the
world
beyond
her
hometown.
As
she
grew
older,
her
ambition
only
grew
stronger,
and
soon
she
found
herself
on
a
plane
bound
for
the
United
States. The
journey
was
long
and
tiring,
but
Jiahui
was
excited
to
begin
her
new
adventure.
She
arrived
in
Seattle,
Washington,
where
she
would
be
studying
at
the
University
of
Washington.
Everything
was
different
–
the
weather,
the
language,
the
food.
But
Jiahui
was
determined
to
make
the
most
of
her
experience. Over
the
next
few
months,
Jiahui
immersed
herself
in
American
culture.
She
attended
classes,
made
new
friends
and
explored
the
city.
She
even
tried
her
hand
at
basketball,
a
sport
that
was
virtually
unknown
in
her
home
country.
But
she
quickly
discovered
that
adjusting
to
a
new
culture
was
not
always
easy.
She
missed
her
family
and
friends
back
home,
and
the
language
barrier
made
it
difficult
to
communicate
with
others. However,
Jiahui
was
determined
to
succeed.
She
studied
hard,
practiced
her
English
and
joined
various
clubs
and
organizations
on
campus.
Slowly
but
surely,
she
began
to
feel
more
at
home
in
her
new
environment.
And
as
she
did,
she
began
to
realize
that
she
was
learning
more
about
herself
as
well. Now,
several
years
later,
Jiahui
has
graduated
from
the
University
of
Washington
and
is
working
for
an
international
company.
She
is
fluent
in
English
and
has
made
lifelong
friends

And
while
she
still
misses
her
hometown,
she
knows
